Da
Groove Doctors

Da Groove Doctors,
made up of the troubled trio
Jay Dabhi, Moises Modesto and Duane Harden, first burst
onto the scene at the Winter Music Conference in 2003 as a
featured act at the Ray Roc party in Miami. Their debut song
“Save A Lil Luv” caught the attention of
Michael Paoletta, Dance Music Editor for Billboard
magazine and received accolades in April’s edition. The rest
is history as they say! With this momentum, Da Groove
Doctors have embarked on a songwriting blitz in the past 2
years with countless artists like
Jenny Frost(from UK trio Atomic Kitten),
Bob Sinclair,
DJ Oliver,
Barbara Tucker, just to name a few…..
Da Groove Doctors take you on a journey through different
sounds like Latin, Punjab and Gospel. Classically trained
pianist and songwriter Moises Modesto, delivers a Latin
punch to everything he touches. His vocals and songwriting
encompass a wide range of Latin and Pop influences. He
represents Brick City, North Newark (NJ) and brings years
three decades of musical discipline to the crew.
Jay Dabhi is a staple of America's South Asian
Nightlife. Jay is relentless in his percussions and drum
work. Hailing from New York City, Jay has the Punjab scenes
and sounds locked with his unmatched DJ skills and his club
bangin' remix work. Duane Harden is an extremist in every
sense of the way; he leaves nothing to the imagination in
his vocals and songwriting. His Gospel style originates in
Savannah, Georgia and extends to the streets of Harlem.
This team is built strong! Keeping a sharp eye on 2008 and
look out for Da Groove Doctors releases on
Beatport and
Traxsource !!!

Moises
Modesto & Duane Harden
began MODU Productions in October 1997. Ironically, the two
graduated from Boston University and were co-workers at a
campus job. Neither knew that the other had musical talents
and interest. But as fate has it, after a couple of years
of being out of school they ran into each other one night in
a pool hall in Hoboken, NJ.
The very first project that they worked on was an R&B ballot
for Tekitha Washington (the first female artist signed to
Wu-Tang Clans label RazorSharp) titled "The Love That I
Once knew". Many nights were spent in the small Cat out 'Da
Bag Studio that Duane had started a couple of months
earlier. After completing the demo, the dynamic duo began
working on various productions to learn each others style
and to create a new and unique sound.
Moises is a Dominican from Jersey. As a young boy, he was
inspired by his father's musical talents on the saxophone,
and developed a strong desire to master the piano with the
same passion and skillz. Moises grew up in front of the
piano, attending piano academy from grammar school all the
way up through college, ultimately receiving a National
Piano Diploma and starting a few bands. As an attempt to
impress his high school sweetheart, he composed several
piano solos for her, and discovered his passion for writing
love songs. This discovery has now expanded into all arenas
of music, which blends his background in classical, latin
and jazz music to create ballads, film scores, House tracks
and pop music....
Duane, a southern boy from Savannah, GA, grew up listening
to the Gospel sounds of the South. His grandparents had 14
children and they all traveled around singing gospel music
since they're father was a Baptist preacher. However,
Duane's interest since the 8th grade had always been in
computers. It was his brother Cedric that had a voice of an
angel and who's dream was to be an entertainer. Well that
dream was cut short by his death. But it was that event
that inspired Duane to make his brothers dream come true.
He wanted to re-record a beautiful ballot that his brother
had written many years ago. That's how the studio got
started. Trusting friends like Kelvin Sylvester helped
guide Duane in the right direction.
The two combined there love for commercial and deep house
music into a new flavor all together. That's just what
CODEE
means - Commercial
and Deep house music. They want to
revolutionize the dance music community by creating
combinations of commercial/deep house music. Rather the
track has a vocalist that has a deep style singing over
commercial music, commercial lyrics being sung by a deep
vocalist over deep music, or any other variation that the
two can dream up.
It wasn't until January 1998 that the two really focused
their direction. Anna Martin (NJ), a very good friend and
knowledgeable person about the industry, convinced the two
that they should do a demo to take the Winter Music
Conference '98 in Miami. Instantly, they set out
on a quest to with an aggressive schedule to write and
produce six original CODEE vocals. Try doing that with
full-time jobs, school, and the difficult task of finding
musicians at the same time of learning how to record music.
But the two made it and knocked A&R executives off their
feet at the Conference.
The March event brought positive responses from around the
world. Be sure to always be on the look out for MODU.
They've brought something new to the dance world that will
be around for some time to come.

Tommie
Nibbs has been Infused with music since he could
remember. He's been singing songs by The BeeGees, Barry
Manilow, Barry White, Diana Ross, Hector Lavoe, Fernandito
Villalona and other greats of the day. (To make sure the
setting was right, he would take a stick, put it in a top
drawer to able to sing and play piano for a Manilow song). A
Dominican-American born in Washington Heights, NYC, Tommie
was surrounded by music; his father played the classics of
the 70's and early 80's showing him the fundamentals of the
feel of music and, like a baton, his brother, Frank,
continued by showing him New Wave, R & B, Hip-Hop, Salsa,
Merengue and the always infusive House of the late 80's and
90's. Even before Tommie could go to clubs he was already
dancing to House classics with his brother in the living
room of their Washington Heights apartment right after a 2 -
3 hour dose of R & B and Hip-Hop classics on BET and Video
Music Box.
A few years later, under the tutelage of teacher, friend and mentor, Troy Randall, he grew from novice singer to professional vocalist. Tommie learned to appreciate the all around qualities of artists like Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, James Ingram, Karen Clark-Sheard, Kim Burrell, Maxwell, Prince, E.W.F and many others.
Now he's honing his inspirations into his own music. His voice and rhyme take you back to your own times when music was fresh and new. Tommie's sounds give honor to the greats of the past from R&B, Salsa, Pop, House, Merengue, Hip-Hop, but brings it all together to make it his own. He may belong to any genre but labeled to none.
Tommie is making his debut with Soltrenz on Da Groove Doctor's "All We Need is Luv" track.
Ashish
(Ash) Sheth
began his musical career playing guitars and backup vocals
in the Jersey Shore Rock cover-band circuit. After gaining
great exposure and experience within the Jersey Shore scene,
he moved to New York, where he started playing guitar for
various South Asian artists, including Manjit, Bikram Singh,
and Bollywood playback singer, Kavita Paudwaal. Fifteen
years into his musical career, Ash now plays multiple
instruments, including congas, doumbeks, tablas, guitars,
bass, and drums; the electric guitar remaining his favorite
instrument. He currently performs live percussion shows with
Universal artist, Wendy Starland, as well as live Arabic /
Indian percussion shows at several New York Clubs.
Ash works as an independent producer out of his own
recording studio in Hoboken, New Jersey, as a producer with
the Soltrenz record label, and as a guitar player for the
artist Lock n Load. Recent success includes co-producing a
song for the Slumber Party Girls (Geffen) with the President
of A&M Records, Ron Fair; a song that eventually became the
theme song for the recent movie, "The Bratz".
